Having trained in ceramics, I discovered the thrill of surface pattern and after my MA, concentrated my efforts into translating my imagery into textiles. Influences have always come from my own personal experiences and have evolved over time, but his style and personal approach has remained constant. Inspiration has been found in the themes of courtship, motherhood, feeding and familiar day-to-day images. I have recently found the natural world and its local inhabitants a  source of enjoyment, by which to express hopeful and sometimes humorous domestic emotions. Handstitched embroidery, like all traditional craft based needlework, is a slow and linear process, but it allows time to reflect as the work progresses.
